The Four Best Ways to Prepare for a Pedicure
The next step after booking an appointment for a spa facial treatment, eyelash extensions or nail service is figuring out how to prepare.
At Newport Nails, we pamper our clients head to foot, so no major prep work is needed before an appointment. However, there are a few things to keep in mind that will ensure you have the best spa experience possible. Here are four ways to prep before a pedicure service.
Choose Your Outfit Wisely
No, you don’t have to dress up to go to the nail bar. However, we recommend wearing something comfortable to make your experience as relaxing as possible.
You might also consider wearing open-toed shoes. While most salons provide foam flip-flops if you need them, these are a temporary solution that won’t work if you need to go back to the office or run an errand right after your pedicure.
Lastly, make sure to wear shorts or pants that easily roll up at the cuffs. You’ll need to have your ankles and calves exposed for a relaxing massage.
Leave Your Cuticles Alone
If you’re looking at your cuticles before a pedicure and notice they could use some TLC, leave the trimming to your nail tech.
Your pedicurist will ensure a clean, flawless result that most don’t achieve when they attempt to trim your cuticles. No need to prepare – our nail technicians will address every element of your nails and nail beds to have them looking their very best.
Skip the Lotion
The first step of any pedicure is a soak in one of our foot baths. The hot water releases tension and helps to soften the skin before exfoliating.
This step will also remove any lotions or oils you apply before your service, so you’ll just end up rinsing your products down the drain.
If your skin is feeling a little dry on the day of a pedicure appointment, rest assured that you’ll leave the salon with soft, extra-pampered skin. Your nail tech will apply quality moisturizing lotions during your massage to eliminate any dryness.
You can even upgrade your service to include hot oil, a paraffin wax treatment or an extra massage to enhance your experience.
Gather Your Personal Tools
If you keep a nail box with your personal files, nail clippers and buffers, make sure you throw them in your bag before an appointment. Your nail tech will be happy to use your tools – plus, it’s a great way to reduce your usage of single-use materials.
Preparing for a manicure or pedicure service is quick and easy; all there’s left to do after is pick out the perfect colors and design. Whether you prefer a simple French manicure, Gel-X nails or a full acrylic set, our nail technicians have the tools and expertise to bring your dream nails to life!
